When it comes to women in tech, at Talos360, we’re industry leaders. With 44% of our workforce being women, it’s safe to say we’ve comfortably beat the national average of 26%.
As advocates for equal opportunities, inclusive hiring and diverse workforces, we strive to do all we can to provide equal opportunities and ensure everyone is heard.
Celebrating International Women’s Day 2024
Women are often underrepresented within the tech industry. On average, only 20% of tech teams are female. Here at Talos360, we have almost doubled that, with 38% of our tech team being female.
To celebrate International Women’s Day 2024, we thought it was only right to celebrate some of the incredible women in our organisation, and who better than Talos360’s 2023 Women in Tech winner, Nicola Langley.
Introducing… Nicola Langley
Joining the business in 2019, Nicola Langely was excited to take on the new challenge. After a short stint as a Business Development Executive, she took the next step and successfully obtained her current role as a Business Development Manager.
Working in a traditionally male-dominated environment within a tech organisation, Nicola has succeeded in many aspects of her role. Her secret to success: “taking chances when they arise and not doubting yourself”.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we caught up with Nicola to ask her some questions about her time at Talos360 so far, what has allowed her to progress in her career at Talos360, and what advice she would give her younger self.
How has working for Talos360 helped you succeed in your role?
“It has helped massively. Talos360 has provided me with the tools I need to succeed whilst supporting me every step of the way. I feel confident in myself within the organisation, not just as an individual, but as a woman in what is typically a male dominated industry.“
“I am well supported by a range of people, and I feel like my opinion matters – regardless of who I am conversing with!“
What personal achievements at work have you experienced during your time at Talos360?
“Starting my journey at Talos360 as a junior BDE I soon realised I wanted more. I worked hard in the role so that when the BDM role opened, I took the chance and went for it.”
“At first, I felt like a fish out of water. I felt the effects of imposter syndrome sat around a table of senior BDMs and our SLT, but with the support of my team and or management, my confidence grew and I felt like I belonged there.”
“Another personal achievement would have to be the internal awards I have received during my time here, such Talos360’s Women in Tech award and Talos360’s Biggest Heart of The Year award.“
What has driven you to progress and find success in your career?
“I don’t like the idea of being average. I always think if I am going to do something, I want to put my all into it and be the best I possibly can be.”
“I am always eager to learn new ways to improve and am determined to achieve my goals.“
What advice would you give your younger self as a woman in tech?
“You’re not expected to know everything at each stage of your career, it is a journey, so there is no problem not knowing everything. It is important to keep learning, not only to better your skills but also to improve your impact at your place of work.”
“It is never too late to learn new things, don’t wait to go for what you want, if you want it, go out and get it.”
